About Counselling

Traumatic experiences, life events, loss and bereavement can cause symptoms of anxiety and stress, depression and mood swings or create relationship problems which can affect your day-to-day life and prevent you from fulfilling your potential.

In counselling, the process is enabling the client to understand the patterns of his or her life, and the helpful and/or unhelpful ways he or she has developed to deal with difficulties. Regular weekly sessions can provide a safe place for clients to explore their feelings and to gain insight into their difficulties, thereby lessening the impact those difficulties might have in their everyday lives. Talking to friends and family members about your problems can sometimes help, but a trained counsellor can be invaluable in helping to unravel problems because he or she is not directly involved in your everyday life.

My theoretical orientation is psychodynamic, which means that I am trained to help clients explore their problems with particular reference to the way their past has influenced their life in the present.

The issues that can be helped by counselling include:

  • Loss and bereavement
  • Anxiety, Stress and Lack of Confidence
  • Traumatic Experiences, Overwhelming feelings
  • Depression and Mood Swings
  • Relationship Problems
  • Work Issues
  • Life Crisis
  • Difficulties in Making Life Choices.

Work Issues

Balancing work and a healthy lifestyle can be immeasurably difficult. Particularly, if you’re facing certain challenges at work – say increased pressure, a hostile environment or unfamiliarity with a new role. We at Counselling Croydon can help you overcome work issues, with the ultimate ambition of establishing a clear work-life balance to the betterment of your health, wellbeing and happiness.

Life Crises

Life crises are often unexpected, meaning we are also often unable to deal with the thoughts, emotions and trauma that crises can provide. Counselling Croydon can assist in unpacking the complicated feelings, obligations and reactions entwined with a life crisis. Whether your crisis is a personal or professional matter – we assist you with management techniques, overcoming the anxiety and distress of a crisis one session at a time.

Loss And Bereavement

Losing a loved one is never easy – coming to terms with their death, even less so. Loss and bereavement can infiltrate our lives with prolonged grief and health issues, caused by distress. We help you manage and resolve the overwhelming feelings of prolonged loss and bereavement: sharing memories of your loved one and discussing your grief in a non-judgemental, compassionate environment.

Couples Therapy

Relationships take work, and resolution is often not so simple. Start afresh in your relationship with improved communication, de-escalation techniques and an environment in which you can safely discuss your expectations of one another. Work through your issues in a controlled space, delivered through a Counselling Croydon professional.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a frequent feeling of fear, apprehension or worry. If you feel this way most of the time, unable to rest and feel at ease – it may be helpful to seek counselling with Counselling Croydon. Not only do we determine the root cause of your anxiety in a comforting environment, we can teach strategies for the management and improvement of the anxieties you have.

Psychotherapy

Whether you are struggling with addiction or are in the midst of a life crises, psychotherapy can be valuable in ‘talking through’ your thoughts. Through this form of talking therapy, we recognise the impact of your trauma – providing a free and compassionate space in which your thoughts and feelings can be heard, explored and understood.

Depression

Feelings of sadness and exhaustion can plague many of us at different times of our lives. However, if these feelings persist – over days, weeks and months – you may have depression. Counselling Croydon can help. We provide an environment free of judgement, helping you to explore your feelings and establish a way to regulate and manage this condition.

Traumatic Experiences

Traumatic experiences can come out of nowhere – beyond a combat experience, trauma can also be drawn from illness, assault, abuse and childbirth. Following a traumatic experience, you may experience thoughts, feelings and physical reactions that are completely new to you.

Shock can become distress, distress can become shame and frustration. There is no right or wrong response to trauma – we at Counselling Croydon are here to manage the impact of a traumatic experience, making sense of your experiences to help reflect, revaluate and rebuild your life.
